FUTURE WORK

In terms of the potential to expand this project, I think the biggest area of expansion lays in the sequencing of the LED lights attached to the roof of the Christmas house. If I had more time, I would definitely try out the idea of Charlieplexing, which is essentially a technique for driving a multiplexed display in which relatively few I/O pins on a microcontroller can be used to drive an array of LEDs. In doing so, this could potentially reduce the amount of GPIO pins needed ot be configured. Moreover, another opportunity for expansion lays in the video playback. Instead of simply playing the holiday video on the piTFT, it could be more interesting to explore video playback on some kind of external, larger screen, perhaps a projector.
